Ecommerce
The ads were running. The catalog could not match them.
A direct-to-consumer ecommerce brand
The situation
Meta ads were serving and the pixel was reporting, but the product catalog was not matching purchases back to the items that drove them. Spend was being optimised against an incomplete picture.
What we found
Three separate faults. View Content and Add to Cart were referencing a variable that no longer resolved, so category never arrived. The purchase event was sending the SKU string where Meta expects the numeric product ID, which meant catalog matching failed silently. And the dataLayer was not in the shape Meta requires.
What we did
Rebuilt the dataLayer push in Meta’s required format, replaced the broken category variable, created a dedicated purchase object, and corrected the ID priority so content_ids carries the numeric product ID and matches across View Content, Add to Cart and Purchase. Verified with a simulated purchase event and validated the IDs against the live product catalog before publishing.
